OFFICIAL PROCEDURES REQUIRED UPON ARRIVAL AND STAY IN A COUNTRY OF PARTNER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION
Student must legalize his/her stay in another country as soon as he/she arrives to a partnership educational institution. In order to obtain legal stay application is to be submitted at the nearest Province (Voivodeship) Office. Documents proving student status are required (certification of educational institution) as well as health insurance and sufficient financial means.

FIRST STEPS UPON ARRIVAL
Student should decide on the exact date and time of his/her arrival and inform partner educational institution coordinator by mail: briw@pwsz-ns.edu.pl, by fax 0048/184434608 or by phone 0048/184434545. Student should report in person coordinator of international affairs upon arrival in Nowy Sacz. at International Office Department at Staszica 1 Street, room nr 101, 102 (first floor).

ACCOMMODATION
Student Dormitory PWSZ in Nowy Sacz is located at Dlugosza 1 Street, phone/fax number 0048/184436945. In order to reserve a place in a Dormitory student must submit an application until 15th of September for a following academic year. Disabled student may stay at a Dormitory as well. However, unfortunately there aren't any facilities for disabled persons. There is a cafeteria at Student Dormitory serving dinner. There is a store "EuropaII" next to a Dormitory. Students may stay physically active by using modern sports facilities in the town.

ECTS - EUROPEAN CREDIT TRANSFER SYSTEM
The ECTS, The European Credit Transfer System, was conceived in the EU to facilitate the co-operation between European universities.
ECTS scoring enables measurement and comparison of the results achieved by the student as well as transferring these results between universities. It allows for clear and transparent definition of the rules for international studies, their full recognition and credit requirements.

Welcome to the State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sacz!

Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Zawodowa w Nowym Sączu (PWSZ) is a state college established by polish government order on June 16, 1998 as one of the first schools of this type in Poland. It is located in the charming town Nowy Sacz, in the beautiful and mountainous area of South Poland.

The PWSZ students can find their specialization among the subjects offered by the six PWSZ Institutes (faculties):

· Institute of Economics,

· Institute of Foreign Languages,

· Institute of Pedagogy,

· Institute of Engineering,

· Institute of Physical Education,

· Institute of Nursing.

Full-time studies at State Higher Vocational School in Nowy Sacz are free. PWSZ also offers weekend study programs, as well as postgraduate studies. After 3 years the graduates are awarded either a licentiate diploma (Bachelor of Arts degree) or after 3,5 years - an engineering diploma (Bachelor of Science degree). Graduates may then work in their chosen profession as well as pursue master degree studies and post-graduate studies.

From 2012 university offers also studies on the 2^nd level (Master) in field of Management and Production Engineering.

Co-operation is based mainly on student and academic staff exchange, organization of joint academic meetings and exchanging of academic publications. Further example of international collaboration is the participation of the PWSZ students in several abroad workshops as well as in the different European Union integration programmes.

LLP Erasmus Programme
ERASMUS is a programme that seeks to enhance the quality and reinforce the European dimension of higher education by encouraging transnational cooperation between universities, boosting European mobility and improving the transparency and full academic recognition of studies and qualifications throughout the Union.

ERASMUS is targeted at higher education institutions and their students and staff in all 25 Member States of the European Union, the three countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), the three candidate countries (Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey).

For students ERASMUS offers the possibility of studying abroad in another European country for a period of between 3 and 12 months. It's a wonderful opportunity to study at a foreign university, to learn a new language, to meet new people and to get know a different culture! Thanks to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) the studies at the foreign university will be fully recognized by the home university.

ERASMUS students receive a study grant and don't have to pay university fees abroad. In order to participate the programme there must be a partnership agreement between the universities.
